Far East Adventures and Novel Writing

Welcome to my website, which is divided into two main areas, our travels in the Far East and my novel writing under the pen name Elliott Trevor.

Having moved back to the U.K for two years, Moyra and I have now returned to our spiritual home, Thailand, where we intend to settle for the foreseeable future. We will continue our exploration of other Far East destinations such as Vietnam, Cambodia, Lao, Malaysia, etc. Chumphon in Thailand will be our long-term base. Located on the East coast on the Gulf of Thailand, Chumphon is far from the tourist areas and offers unspoilt beaches, quiet rural life, and very friendly people. If you look at a map of Thailand Chumphon is in the very narrow part about a six-hour drive south from Bangkok and a similar drive north from Phuket.

We were very lucky to meet TV fishing legend John Wilson and his wife Jo who created a beautiful lakeside home just outside Chumphon town. We moved into what was originally John’s brother’s house and for the next few years enjoy fantastic views across the lake and the surrounding landscaped areas.

We have spent our time creating our own garden areas, experimenting with tropical plants to find what grows well and keeping the jungle on the other side of the fence. Sadly, John died in late 2018 and his wife Jo, eventually returned to UK. We relocated to Thung Wua Laen Beach one of the prettiest in Thailand and close to many friends we had made over the years.

We had always planned to return to the UK and in 2020 decided that this was the point at which we should end our Far East adventure. Then COVID-19 appeared and everything around the world fell into chaos. Thailand was quick to lock down and infection rates were and remain extremely low. However, international travel was also shutdown and our flight home was cancelled and rescheduled several times. We eventually arrived in the UK in late September 2020 but the lure of the Far East proved too strong and we decided to return.

I am still writing novels although progress has been interrupted by other priorities, but as you can see from the section opposite, I have 8 novels published on virtually all E Book platforms and a couple of new ones are in production.

‘No Use For Rules’.

When Professor Rupert Scott refuses to accept an unexpected funding offer from Waleed Alghamdi, a Saudi diplomat with links to the richest oil producers in the world, things quickly turn nasty. The offer of huge funding is dependent on Scott abandoning his work to develop new applications for his late friend Mr Sato’s super conductivity discovery- work which will help the world breaks its addiction to oil. Instead Alghamdi wants Rupert to adopt an ‘oil friendly’ research programme funded by a shadowy group of superrich Saudi oil men whose wealth means they believe they have no use for the rules by which everyone else must live.

With the professor refusing to cooperate they decide to increase their leverage by kidnapping Rupert’s fiancé Helen Childs. When Helen goes missing enroute to Cambridge Rupert is desperate and turns to Helen’s brother police commissioner Tom Childs. Although Tom shares Rupert’s concern, he admits that Alghamdi’s diplomatic status means officially his hands are tied. With Helen missing and no idea what happened, Professor Scott turns to Tuk Kae and she flies to England to help find her friend.

The quest to find and save Helen starts in Cambridge then shifts to Italy and finally to a mafia stronghold in the remote Sicilian mountain town of Gangi. Here Helen is being held in a remote mountain top property guarded by Giuseppe - a giant of a man who has a rare genetic condition which means he feels no pain. Giuseppe is fiercely loyal to his mafia boss who is working with Alghamdi and his group of oil producers and would die before failing his Don.

Tuk Kae is faced with the challenge of locating Helen and then wresting her from the clutches of someone who she can’t hurt and who won’t back down.

After retiring in 2011, I found that I needed to continue to write so I swapped articles and press releases for novels. These I have self-published as E books on amazon Kindle and Smashwords and whilst the sales can best be described as modest it satisfies an itch that needs to be scratched. The first novel started out as a science fiction story idea but developed into a medical science based thriller entitled Crossover. This was followed by two more novels to form the Silex Trilogy. Click on the covers below to find out more about the novels. Then I started to write a series of novels about the daughter of poor Thai rubber farmers who live in Chumphon. Like all Thais she has a nickname and hers is Tuk Kae after the aggressive little lizard that lives around our houses and consumes its smaller cousins and anything else that gets in its way. My character is a feisty young lady, self-reliant and determined who meets a retired Japanese doctor who teaches her bushido techniques. Click Here for further information.
